With our Mildura store thriving and a new store opening soon in Swan Hill, we’re seeking a skilled and reliable Accounts Officer to join our team, based at our Mildura head office, supporting both locations.
Your New Role
This is a diverse and hands-on role, working as part of our group finance team. You'll support the day-to-day accounts function for our busy timber and hardware operations.
Key responsibilities include:
Accounts Payable:
Entering supplier invoices into Xero
Chasing approvals and batching payments
Reconciling supplier statements
Accounts Receivable:
Issuing invoices and processing payments
Following up overdue accounts
Matching remittance advices
Other responsibilities:
Banking, cash handling and daily tills
Inter-entity reconciliation across our group of businesses
Credit card and account reconciliation
Completing credit applications
Assisting with payroll preparation
Monitoring shared finance inboxes
Responding to customer and supplier enquiries
Supporting ad hoc finance and administration tasks
Willingness to learn and assist in other roles across the business to cover leave and absences
What You’ll Need to Succeed
We’re looking for someone who’s thorough, dependable and enjoys being part of a hardworking team.
Required skills & attributes:
2+ years’ experience in accounts, bookkeeping, or finance admin
Solid understanding of AP, AR and reconciliations
Experience using Xero (or similar accounting software)
Strong attention to detail and time management skills
Great communication and problem-solving skills
Positive attitude and willingness to take initiative
Ability to juggle priorities in a fast-moving environment
Confidence working independently and as part of a team
Willingness to cross-train and support other areas of the business
Bonus points for:
Experience in a trade, retail, or manufacturing setting
Understanding of inter-entity transactions and reconciliations
Qualifications in bookkeeping or accounting (not essential)
Experience using Sympac software system (not essential)
