About South West Aviation Services (SWAS)

SWAS provides a full range of ground handling services for airlines at the Busselton Margaret River Airport. SWAS is one of the business operations of the Margaret River Tourism Association (MRBTA) and has provided ground handling services for more than 14 years.

In addition to SWAS ground handling, MRBTA also operates caves, lighthouses, a high ropes adventure course, a bird of prey sanctuary, multi-site retail outlets, and visitor centres with a total workforce of 160 staff.

About the Role

The Safety and Quality Assurance Manager plays a key leadership role in the SWAS ground handling team with specific responsibility for:

ensuring that risk is minimised through the development and adoption of suitable policies and procedures for ground handling operations, and

developing and implementing audit and assessment procedures to identify improvements in safety and performance, and to meet all external audit and review requirements.

As well as carrying these responsibilities, the successful candidate would be expected to maintain firsthand knowledge of ramp operations by working ramp shifts (approx. 30% of time) and by undertaking the necessary training to act as a Training Facilitator for the main client airlines (as backup to the primary Training Facilitators).
