Workshop Manager - West Coast Bus Charters

Job Purpose: As the Workshop Manager at West Coast Bus Charters, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Operations Manager in managing and delivering all our services. Your vast mechanical knowledge and leadership skills, particularly in buses and heavy vehicles, will be vital in supporting our workshop services, maintaining data integrity our system, and ensuring the smooth running of our business operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Fleet Management:

Manage your responsible fleet of vehicles to maximize effective utilization.

Direct and support workshop and operational staff.

Ensure preventative maintenance and repairs are carried out as required.

Schedule and perform routine maintenance and repairs.

Supervise and conduct in-process and final inspections.

Prioritize work schedules for vehicle repairs and maintenance.

Monitor workshop activities and vehicle maintenance.

Review vehicle defect report sheets and raise work orders for repairs.

Review and sign off on vehicle repairs and maintenance sheets.

Equipment and Safety:

Organize repairs and service to workshop equipment.

Ensure all tools and equipment are safe and stored correctly.

Maintain a high level of safety at all times.

Investigate non-conformances and manage resolutions.

Ensure equipment is calibrated when needed and oversee records management.

Maintain vehicle service data and history records in the company database.

Ensure compliance with the Workplace Health & Safety Management Plan.

Requirements:

Ability to work independently and as part of a team with leadership experience.

Trade qualification with 5+ years of mechanical experience, especially with buses and heavy vehicles.

Previous experience managing a workshop.

Basic online technology skills for electronic job card systems, or willingness to learn.

Fault finding and electronic diagnostic skills.

Current MR/HR License advantageous or willingness to obtain.

High level of organizational skills and ability to prioritize.

Ability to pass and complete Alcohol and other Drug screening.

Willingness to work overtime or on-call hours as needed.

Skills and Experience:

Extensive mechanical knowledge and experience with buses and heavy vehicles is essential.

Exceptional reporting and organizational skills.

Ability to work effectively under pressure.

Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.

Previous experience in workshop administration or passenger transport operations.

Proficient in purchasing and familiar with computer systems.

3-5 years of experience in a similar role or industry.
