About the role
As the Insurance Claims Officer, you will work closely with the Insurance (General and WC) Lead and various stakeholders across the Council. Your primary responsibility will be the end-to-end administration of insurance claims, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adherence to policies.
This is a frontline position where excellent communication and customer service are key.
This is a 6-month, full-time, fixed-term contract, concluding in October 2025
Requirements
Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or demonstrated significant relevant experience or equivalent experience.
Understanding of public liability claims.
Experience with accurate data entry and records management across different working with systems.
Highly efficient and effective processing of claims notification.
Excellent time management skills working under pressure to meet a variety of competing deadlines.
Be able to provide accurate reports and assessments, on a regular basis, in relation to general insurance claims.
Highly proficient in Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel and Outlook
Well-developed communication skills, verbal and written.
Well-developed organisational and interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a team.
Highly customer and delivery focused.
Proven ability to maintain confidentiality.
Ensure that the insurance lead is informed of any issues that may affect service delivery with the claimant and or community.
Willingness to learn and also provide input into organisational improvements
Desirable Criteria
Knowledge or Experience in Local or State Government or similar environments.
Experience with Technology One system.
