About the role
As a Youth Development Officer, you'll be at the forefront of driving youth engagement, community development, and social impact. Working closely with local schools, youth services, and community groups, you'll have the opportunity to plan, develop, and deliver programs that address the diverse needs of young people in the Willoughby community.

Requirements
Tertiary qualifications in Youth Work/Youth Development, Social Sciences or related discipline and demonstrated experience in related field
Demonstrated experience working with young people in a range of settings.
Demonstrated ability to manage challenging situations and people.
Demonstrated understanding of assessment, referral and advocacy of and for young people.
Understanding and experience in program development, implementation, monitoring and evaluation.
Experience in report writing with a high level of communication skills.
Experience in working in a culturally diverse environment.
Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills to liaise and build relationships with a broad range of people at all levels and from diverse backgrounds. (An ability to communicate effectively with young people from CALD backgrounds is essential).
Well-developed understanding of marketing and the ability to strategically utilise appropriate tools, including traditional and new media, to engage stakeholders and deliver results.
Ability to work autonomously as well as in a team and to be able to follow instructions.
Current First Aid Certificate.
Proven ability to maintain confidentiality.
Highly customer and delivery focused.
Willingness to learn and also provide input into organisational improvements
Must hold a Working with Children Check clearance (or have completed the application process for a new Check)
Desirable Criteria
Knowledge or experience in Local or State Government or similar environments
Training in Child Protection initiatives
NSW Driving Licence
Child Protection Requirements & Responsibilities
Must hold a Working with Children Check clearance (or have completed the application process for a new Check). The Working with Children Check is a prerequisite for employment in this position under Part 2, section 6 of the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012
This position is mandated to report suspicions of a child being at risk of significant harm through the appropriate Government reporting mechanisms within Council’s Child Protection Policy and Procedures.
Must be able to provide proof of identity.
Ensure the service provides a safe environment for all young people.
Identify and respond to children and young people at risk (CHCPRT001) certificate or willingness to obtain.
Attend training in Child Protection where directed.
