Role Purpose
The Traffic Manager is responsible for overseeing and enhancing the safety, productivity, and profitability of a designated geographical area (Central Coast to Dungog).
This role involves the strategic management and coordination of Traffic Controller teams (currently, up to 18 staff) to ensure seamless and efficient daily operations while also planning for future client requirements.
There is also the expectation you will stay alert for and bring back any business development opportunities that the company can also work on.
The position is based at our Central Coast depot in Tuggerah, with travel required between sites, depots, and offices.
Key Accountabilities:
Conduct comprehensive site audits and maintain a strong on-site presence in accordance with company procedures to uphold safety and operational efficiency
- Implement company-approved systems to ensure traffic controllers accurately complete site records, pre-start documentation, vehicle inspections, signage inspections, and stock takes
- Adhere to incident reporting and escalation protocols, ensuring that serious or public interest incidents are promptly reported to the Business Manager
- Manage and escalate client feedback, including compliments and complaints, to the Regional Manager while adhering to the Corrective Preventive Action framework
- Ensure the timely and accurate completion of all client documentation and requirements
- Facilitate the client onboarding process to ensure seamless service integration
- Review and optimize daily and weekly rosters, as well as monitor and address rejected shifts to maintain operational effectiveness
- Ensure all fleet vehicles are roadworthy and properly maintained
- Oversee and manage signage inventory within vehicles and storage locations, ensuring monthly stock takes are conducted
- Contribute to the development and management of revenue and expense budgets, supporting the creation of the annual P&L budget
Suitable Candidates Will Demonstrate:
- A minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience in Traffic Control
- Comprehensive knowledge of traffic management plans and safety regulations
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to motivate and support a large team in a dynamic, high-pressure environment
- Excellent organizational and time management skills to ensure operational activities remain on schedule and within budget
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
- Valid traffic control certification and a current driver’s license
- Effective communication skills, including the ability to provide constructive feedback
- Strong client relationship management skills to deliver superior service
- High level of personal integrity and the ability to maintain confidentiality
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain effective relationships and influence key stakeholders
