Maryland Public School P&C Association are looking for motivated and creative Canteen Supervisors to join the Canteen team. Maryland Public School is located in a residential zone between Wallsend and Minmi on Awabakal land. The school draws on a vibrant, family orientated and involved local community. The school is an integral part of the Wallsend Community of Schools, with strong links to Callaghan College Wallsend and Callaghan Education Pathway network.

Currently, the school has an enrolment of 363 students with the canteen running 5 days per week, between the hours of 8:30am to 1:45 pm. In addition to the canteen service the canteen kitchen supports catering for school activities and functions. The canteen supervisor role is a casual position with no more than 30 hrs per week (Mon -Friday) and no less than 3 hrs per day, operating during school terms only. The P&C are looking for two Canteen Supervisor to job share the role.

The pay rate is aligned with the Fast Food Industry Award (MA000003).

Key to the role is an understanding and compliance with the NSW Department of Education Healthy Canteen Policy, and a desire to provide nutritious and affordable food options for our school community.

The Canteen Supervisor is responsible for daily canteen operating procedures, including:
• Purchasing canteen food supplies via phone and online ordering systems,
• Food preparation, safety and hygiene ,
• Ensuring the cleanliness and hygiene of the canteen,
• Updating menus in line with Department of Education guidelines,
• Receiving and storing stock, and stock management,
• Rostering, including supervision/coordination of volunteers,
• Monthly reporting to P&C.

Skills, knowledge and experience required:
• Demonstrated ability to prepare and cook food to order and for point of sale,
• Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills,
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team,
• Qualification in food preparation and safe food handling,
• Experience in working with volunteers,
• Current Police Check,
• Current Working with Children Check.
