You will spend your days:

  • Delivering learning to the broad spectrum of Defence officials.
  • Using your knowledge of contemporary adult learning and instructional design principles to develop engaging and contemporary learning across a number of platforms.
  • Identifying, interpreting and clarifying learning and development requirements to meet business needs and promoting a learning culture.
  • Engaging with and influencing stakeholders to shape and implement learning and development solutions.

About our Team

The Director Financial Learning reports to the Assistant Secretary Financial Compliance. The Financial Compliance Branch sits within the Budgets and Financial Services Division and supports the Department of Defence by providing a framework of financial policies and advice to support staff in exercising their financial responsibilities.

There are a broad range of specialised financial activities undertaken within the Financial Compliance Branch including Financial policy, Financial compliance, Financial Learning, Travel Policy and Tax Management.

The Financial Learning Directorate plays a vital role in delivering Learning programs to support exemplary financial practice across Defence.

The team helps to inform and educate Defence personnel to make sound decisions around Defence financial management, through practical interpretation of financial policy and processes.

The team is responsible for delivering generalist and specialist financial learning solutions in a variety of formats including video, eLearning and face-to-face training (both in-person and online).

  • Demonstrated experience analysing, developing and delivering adult learning or experience developing eLearning and/or video based learning solutions.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and able to collaborate with a range of stakeholders.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong initiative and sound judgement.
  • Project coordination skills with the ability to manage deadlines and competing priorities.
