The One Basin CRC is a focused research collaboration developing policy, technical and financial solutions to support and reduce exposure to climate, water and environmental threats in the Murray-Darling Basin. The CRC includes more than 85 partners across industry, governments, research organisations and not for profits working to achieve a more productive, resilient and sustainable Murray-Darling Basin and beyond.

We are looking for a Communications & Marketing Coordinator (0.8 FTE) who is passionate about sharing research knowledge built with our research programs and partners through the broader community using innovative marketing and communication techniques.

As the Communications & Marketing Coordinator, reporting to the Communications Manager, you will translate the research outcomes to:

Strong written communication content

Newsletter style communications & blogs

One to three-page infographics

Social media posts to tell the story of research outcomes

Create unique videos condensing the research outcomes to short 1–5-minute videos for online distribution

Generate website content and update website(s) as required

Setting up and organising webinars and other events including building attendance and engagement.

You will be committed to the brand development and communications evolution of this newly formed CRC to engage with the researchers, partners, Murray-Darling Basin communities and the domestic and international network of scientists and researchers who are working in this space or following it.

You will be a digital marketing guru building effective SEO, Google analytics, AdWords and YouTube Campaigns to bring awareness to the work of One Basin CRC and its partners.

You will create or find contractors to create cartoons and animated content. You will work on events that are hosted by the One Basin CRC which include an annual conference and will contribute to/or attend events hosted by our 85+ partners. You will work with the team to build on the Monday.com CRM system to ensure all contacts are profiled, remain up to date and will use the CRM to build engagement across all stakeholder groups.

Nearly 50% of your time will be spent working on a large multiyear contract with an external One Basin CRC partner and a Commonwealth Department. You will require strong client relationship management skills, exceptional addition to detail, and the ability to translate client requests to tailored communication products. You will report to the Research Communication and Innovation Lead for this contract.

For this role, you must have:

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, Graphic Design and/or Media

Have a background or interest in science or research.

4+ years of work experience.

Expertise in the Adobe suite of software, video editing skills, brand creation and graphic design.

Advanced knowledge of SEO, Google Analytics, Google AdWords, and paid advertising campaign creation in social media platforms.

Ability to write, edit and adjust website and other online content (Wordpress is used for an updated website currently in development) with strong attention to detail.

Campaign planning, tracking and execution on time and on budget.

Strong contributor to group culture and team building.

Cultural sensitivity with First Nations partners and contributors

Willingness to learn new programs and keep up to date on marketing tools.

Ability to work quickly and a collaborative spirit.

Strong work ethic and commitment to meeting timelines.

Experience using AI such as ChatGPT etc to assist in your job tasks.

This role can be located at the One Basin Office in the Melbourne CBD, or one of the four Regional Hubs located in Loxton SA, Mildura VIC, Griffith NSW or Goondiwindi QLD, or a regional location within the catchment area.
