About the Role

The Communications & Marketing Coordinator is responsible for executing strategic marketing and communications initiatives to enhance the visibility, engagement, and impact of the Melbourne Holocaust Museum (MHM).

A creative and detail-oriented professional, the Communications & Marketing Coordinator will develop marketing materials, manage social media, coordinate public relations, and collaborate across departments to support MHM’s mission. Specifically:

  • Develop communication strategies to engage Museum visitors, members and supporters both online and offline.
  • Create compelling content across digital platforms, newsletters, our website and social media to bring history to life.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and community stakeholders to deliver engaging campaigns that drive attendance to the museum and its events.
  • Build and nurture relationships with media, influencers and digital partners to elevate the Museum’s presence and impact across Melbourne.
  • Work with the Head of Engagement & Philanthropy to design innovative strategies to increase broad community engagement, as well as grow participation from various cultural segments.

About You

  • You will possess relevant qualifications in media, communications or marketing (or 3-5 years in related roles).
  • Have a proven track record of creating successful marketing and communication campaigns across multiple media and platforms.
  • A data-driven marketer who tracks results and optimises campaigns for maximum impact and engagement.
  • Possess skills in photography, videography and editing also required in such platforms as Adobe Suite and/or Canva for design. (desirable)
  • Strong communication skills, including confident and effective communications with suppliers (e.g., graphic designers, web developers, printers) is also required.
  • A can-do attitude, willing to roll up the sleeves as required.
  • A team player cross-functionally but who can also work independently as required.
  • Passionate about history, culture and the Jewish community.

The Melbourne Holocaust Museum (MHM) is Australia’s largest institution solely dedicated to Holocaust education, research, and remembrance, fostering the values of respect and acceptance of difference.

Established by Holocaust survivors in 1984, the MHM is an award-winning museum and research centre, showcasing two permanent exhibitions and a diverse rotation of special exhibitions. Annually our education programs are attended by over 25,000 students, we hold over 100 events, and welcome thousands of local and international visitors.

The MHM Collection holds more than 1,300 survivor testimonies and 12,000 historical artefacts from both the pre-war and Holocaust eras.
