Are you a marketing communications expert with a knack for storytelling, strategy, and making an impact? Goulburn Region Tourism (GRT) is on the hunt for a Marketing Communications Lead to help elevate our region’s profile and build a stronger, more vibrant visitor economy.

  • Work-from-home, with travel within the Goulburn Region

  • Reports to Goulburn Region Tourism CEO

About us

We are the peak tourism body for the Goulburn Region, working collaboratively to drive visitation and support for our tourism industry. Guided by the 2023 Destination Management Plan, we focus on growing tourism and enhancing the visitor experience.

With over 2 million visitors annually, our region is a vibrant destination, easily accessible from Melbourne, offering natural beauty, diverse attractions and exceptional food, beverage, and cultural experiences.

About the role

As Marketing Communications Lead, you’ll be at the forefront of creating and executing campaigns that inspire visitors, engage stakeholders, and enhance the reputation of the Goulburn Region. You’ll work collaboratively with local industry and government to share the stories that make our region unique and unmissable.

This is your chance to lead marketing efforts for a newly formed organisation committed to showcasing the incredible attractions, natural beauty, and cultural richness of Greater Shepparton, Strathbogie, and Mitchell.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Content creation: We are developing our digital platform and it needs a lot of content created!! Craft compelling digital content, from eye-catching visuals to engaging reels and copy that captures the heart of our region.
  • Develop and deliver campaigns: Plan and execute marketing strategies aligned with our brand (soon to be under development), Board priorities and the Destination Management Plan to boost regional visitation.
  • Multi-channel communications: Manage and grow our presence across social media, email marketing, PR, and website platforms.
  • Stakeholder engagement: Collaborate with our Industry Engagement Lead, local tourism operators and associations, councils, and community partners to amplify key messages.
  • Events and promotions: Lead promotional efforts for regional events and tourism initiatives, connecting with visitors and industry alike.
  • Data-driven insights: Use market trends, visitor data, and feedback to refine strategies and drive better results.

About you:
We’re after a self-starter with a creative spark and strategic mindset who thrives on collaboration and driving results.

  • Experienced: Proven background in marketing, communications, or a related field, ideally with experience in tourism or regional development.
  • Strategic and hands-on: A big-picture thinker who’s not afraid to roll up their sleeves to get things done.
  • Tech-savvy: Skilled in platforms like WordPress, social media tools, email marketing software, and analytics tools.
  • Creative storyteller: Exceptional writing and content creation skills, with an eye for visual storytelling.
  • Collaborative: Able to engage and inspire partners, stakeholders, and the wider community.
