About the role

Yarra Plenty Regional Library is seeking a permanent part time Senior Marketing and Social Media Officer to enable promotion of Yarra Plenty Regional Library to the community to ensure that the library service is highly valued and well utilised to meet the objectives in accordance with the YPRL Library Plan, policies, procedures, and guidelines.

The Marketing and Communications team is part of the Public Participation Department. This department plays an integral role as the external face of YPRL through leadership and management of branches, services, programs, activities and events which support public participation across the region.

About you

The successful candidate will have a strong desire to contribute to a positive team culture.

You will have formal qualifications, such as a degree or certificate in communications, public relations, marketing, journalism, or a related field. Alternatively, candidates with substantial practical experience in these areas will also be considered.

We are seeking someone with strong data analytics skills, capable of interpreting and acting on data metrics to optimise digital strategies. Proven experience in creating and coordinating effective social and digital media content, along with advising on content strategies in an organisational context, is essential. The successful applicant will have a deep understanding of how to leverage social and digital media to engage and grow audiences.

Proficiency in using photography, video, and graphic design tools for social media content creation is required, as is the ability to manage multiple projects with excellent organisational skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills are crucial, including the ability to engage effectively with diverse audiences.

The successful candidate will be a creative thinker, able to provide innovative solutions to challenges, and demonstrate experience in delivering marketing and communication support for both internal and external stakeholders. They should also have experience in analysing complex data sets and presenting insights to decision-makers in easy-to-consume formats. Strong writing and editing skills across various media are also essential for success in this role.

Key responsibility areas are:

Marketing and Social Media

• Create, coordinate, and publish content across social media, website, and e-newsletters under the direction of the Communications and Marketing Manager.
• Collaborate with content creators to ensure cohesive content aligns with marketing goals and objectives.
• Develop and implement strategies to engage audiences in library activities and events under the direction of the Communications and Marketing Manager.
• Coordinate social media campaigns and digital marketing efforts to maximise event attendance.
• Maintain a content calendar and ensure consistent posting schedules.
• Assist in maintaining and refreshing web pages.
• Use digital channels to engage customers in feedback opportunities.
• Provide guidance on digital content creation and keep up-to-date with the latest content and social media trends.
• Champion target audience marketing strategies.
• Assist in the creation of systems to manage responses to comments and messages in a timely and professional manner to build a positive, engaging presence.
• Provide general marketing administrative assistance as required including input into corporate communications documentation, such as the annual report, quarterly reporting dashboard, and other reports as required.
• Assist with other administrative tasks undertaken by the communications and marketing team.

Data Analytics

• Use data analytics to track, measure, and report on digital and social media performance.
• Review branch marketing and communication activities to ensure alignment with organisational objectives and adherence to established processes.
• Utilise library information systems to report on usage of the YPRL collection and resources, as well as membership and visitation numbers.
• Analyse digital and social media data alongside library usage data to inform campaign reporting.
• Advocate for the use of target audience-based marketing strategies.
• Ability to provide clear reports under the direction Communications and Marketing Manager.

General Responsibilities
• Provide administrative support to the Communications and Marketing team as required.
• Actively participate in planning, procedures and staff meetings.
• Attend relevant forums, meetings and training as required.
• Support staff to develop, promote and deliver effective digital marketing campaigns.
• Promote a community focused orientation and team spirit.
• Responsibilities and duties included in this Position Description are subject to the Multi skilling provisions outlined in the Enterprise Agreement.

This position will report to the Communications and Marketing Manager.

Flexible Working Hours

We offer flexibility in how you structure your 22-hour work week. The only requirement is that you work at least one day on either Monday or Tuesday each week.

Ivanhoe, VIC, Australia

Yarra Plenty Regional Library was founded in the mid 1960s, when the former City of Heidelberg agreed to provide library services to the former Shire of Eltham. Later the former Shire of Diamond Valley and the Shire of Whittlesea joined in the regional group.

In 1995, following changes in local government boundaries, the new municipalities of Banyule, Nillumbik and Whittlesea continued their support for the regional library service and Yarra Plenty was one of the first regions incorporated under Section 196 of the Victorian Local Government Act 1989.
