The Institute for Urban Indigenous Health Ltd was established by its founding members to provide a coordinated/integrated approach to the planning, development and delivery of comprehensive primary health care services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander populations within the Southeast Qld Region.
IUIH is committed to supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in accessing appropriate NDIS services where possible. The focus of the IUIH Disability service delivery team is to provide well-coordinated, quality disability services to eligible clients.
IUIH is expanding existing and developing NDIS programs designed to support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families to access disability services that meet their needs. We have identified education of the NDIS is a significant gap in providing services.
About the Role?
As the Indigenous Project Officer – Knowledge and Skills Grant, you will work closely with the Education Grant Project Group focused on empowering Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people with disabilities. Working with the Education Grant Project Group, you will support the development and delivery of engaging programs designed to increase knowledge and skill-building opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and families accessing disabilities services.
Within this role, you will be required to:
- Provide support to the Disability Services Manager in the development and establishment education programs, workshops, roadshows and consultation days.
- Work collaboratively with the Project Group to develop, design, deliver and report on Grant objectives
- Work collaboratively with the IUIH Network Member Services to manage and deliver staff workshops/training roadshows to different occupations as relevant to the NDIS.
- Engage with and determine from the Network and Community what workshops, collaborations, consultation days, roadshows, etc., are required and need to be created.
- Ensure the project purpose is maintained and supported throughout the grant – engaging with the NDIS Service Development Officer to ensure on track.
- Provide education and facilitation of relationship management were requested with stakeholders, to advance the vision and operations of Disability Services within the IUIH Network services for children and families
- Undertake reporting activities together with other relevant documentation within the scope of your role
- Comply with and contribute to continuous improvement of all IUIH’s policies, procedures and processes.
About You
- Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD)
- Current Criminal History Check
- Current Working with Children Clearence (QLD Blue Card) – required prior to commencement
- Current Disability Workers Screening Check (QLD Yellow Card) – required prior to commencement
- First Aid & CPR
Desirable, but not mandatory:
- Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and /or communities
