Scope

The Procurement Specialist supports the procurement of food ingredient products from international and local suppliers, and import these products into Australia in a legal manner while adhering to all quality and customs standards.

Key Responsibilities

· Raise and manage purchase orders purchase orders for food ingredients with suppliers to meet quality, cost and delivery requirements.

· Coordinating with transport providers/freight forwarders to to support timely shipment and delivery in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.

· Knowledge and understanding of international freight matters such as understanding and appreciating incoterms, customs tariffs and exemptions, and international freight terminology

· Monitor international events such as port strikes, conflicts in areas that affect shipping routes, government lockdown orders, and other events that may result in shipping delays, failure to meet delivery dates. Propose recommendations and .and escalate risks and delays to the Manager.

· During annual stink bug season, ensure that food ingredient imports from high risk countries are imported in such a manner to avoid the need for fumigation while still complying with import requirements.

· Ensure that food ingredients requiring temperature control are imported in a manner to avoid thawing or micro risk, including monitoring temperature data loggers

· Ensure food ingredients are imported in such a manner to meet quality standards, quarantine non-compliant stock and escalate quality issues to the Quality Officer

· Comply with customs requirements for food ingredient imports including coordinating with the customs broker,

· Review and comply with Free Trade Agreement requirements, and ensure that the correct amount of duty is paid on imports

· Ensure imports comply with Hawkins Watts’ import permit requirements

· Coordinate the import of gelatine with the ABF and ensure that gelatine is imported as a pharmaceutical product, and comply with any ABF requirements

· Monitor warehouse stock levels and provide timely updates to Product Managers to support purchasing decisions.

· Identify and report on potential improvements to procurement logistics, including cost or lead time efficiencies

· Administrative duties such as receipt, management and disposal of food ingredient stock in 3PL warehouses
