The enforcement team investigates regulatory breaches and takes enforcement action, including the effective use of litigation. The primary responsibility of the senior investigator role is to conduct investigations and undertake research and analysis to inform regulatory decisions with a strong focus on improving outcomes for consumers.

The role requires strong writing, policy and problem-solving capabilities with an outcomes and delivery focused approach. The role requires strong stakeholder management skills in order to liaise with other members of the Energy team and our external retail energy businesses, consumer groups and industry groups.

This is a fixed term position for 2 years. The work location for this position is 570 Bourke Street, Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements available.

The Essential Services Commission is Victoria's independent economic regulator of essential services supplied by a range of industries. The commission's functions include:

  • Making regulatory decisions with respect to prescribed industries (including price determinations, licensing, customer protection and access disputes).
  • Undertaking reviews and providing advice to Ministers on a range of economic and regulatory matters.
  • Administering the Victorian Energy Upgrades program.
