The infrastructure division of the Department of Education is responsible for the delivery of land, buildings, asset services, and maintenance. The 3 directorates within the division are involved in demographic forecasting and facilities planning, strategic asset management, delivery of capital projects, minor works programs, and maintenance. The infrastructure division also provides security, emergency management, and environmental services to schools, and property management and leasing services.

The division is doing things differently – we are innovating our approach to planning, delivering, and maintaining school infrastructure and are looking for team members who want to make a significant contribution to our reform journey and improve the way we provide services.

The Role

The Infrastructure Delivery and Maintenance directorate is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic Principal Project Officer. In this exciting role you will begin the implementation of the Maintenance Improvement Plan and begin to mould the Departments maintenance portfolio of over 830 schools across Western Australia towards a more strategic path. This role will require the successful applicant to analyse trends, identify opportunities and develop strategies to enhance the asset management ongoing/lifecycle management of department infrastructure. The role will also be required to draft briefing notes and reports to the Minister for Education and Director General of Education.

If successful, you will be required to work collaboratively across the division's 3 directorates, external stakeholders and lead a project towards a more strategic, planned approach to maintaining the Department's assets, and improve its management and governance of asset maintenance.
