Project Officer & Senior Project Officer, Digital Songlines (Targeted)

  • We have 2x Project Officer and 1x Senior Project Officer role opportunities available, temporary up to 12 months, based in Mascot

About the Roles

The Senior Project Officer and Project Officers will play a key role in delivering the Digital Songlines Project. This initiative aligns with the Unfinished Business commitments and priorities set by Stolen Generations survivors and Aboriginal communities, supporting truth-telling and amplifying the voices, experiences, and history of Aboriginal people in NSW.

The Digital Songlines Project will improve access to 100 years of sensitive archival records created by successive NSW government agencies, including the Aborigines Protection Board, the Aborigines Welfare Board, and the Aboriginal Services Branch. The team will also develop processes and policies to enable Aboriginal people to correct and respond to records about themselves and their communities.

Project Officer - You will be responsible for reviewing and updating information about archival records within a newly developed platform. Your work will contribute to broader project activities, ensuring accuracy and accessibility while providing high-quality advice to support the delivery of the Digital Songlines Project.

Senior Project Officer - You will lead and manage projects, oversee key deliverables, and provide expert advice to stakeholders. Your role will involve collaborating with Government, Non-Government, and Community Organisations to support the successful implementation of the Digital Songlines Project.

We're Looking For

  • Cultural Sensitivity & Communication: Engage respectfully with records related to the experiences of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people in NSW
  • Project Delivery: Manage multiple priorities, providing high-quality project support while meeting tight deadlines
  • Teamwork & Independence: Work both collaboratively and autonomously, ensuring confidentiality and integrity when handling personal histories and information
  • Planning & Coordination: Develop project plans, coordinate resources, manage budgets, and meet reporting requirements
  • Problem-Solving: Apply critical thinking to navigate challenges and improve project processes
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders to support project success
  • Travel Requirement: Hold a current driver's license and be willing to undertake regional travel
  • The Senior Project Offer specifically must demonstrate knowledge of legislation and policies relevant to information management, including the State Records Act 1988, Privacy and Personal Information Protection Act 1988 and the Government Information (Public Access) Act 2009.

Salary:

Project Officer - Clerk Grade 7/8. Package includes base salary ($110,266 - $122,058) plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.

Senior Project Officer - Clerk Grade 9/10. Package includes base salary ($125,693 - $138,510) plus employer's contribution to superannuation and annual leave loading.
