We are looking to establish a pool of experienced high performing Level 5 & 6 policy officers who can apply their skills to contribute to the success of our team. Your attention to detail, adaptable nature, well-developed written and verbal communication skills and ability to remain agile will be key to your success in this role.

As a Senior Policy Officer (L5), you will undertake a range of policy and legislative projects and functions to promote the safe and sustainable use of navigable waters. You will be working on key projects within a dynamic Maritime Policy environment. Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, along with your ability to interpret legislation and convey that information to a wide range of audiences will be key to your success in the role. You will prepare written materials, including ministerial briefing notes and cabinet submissions required to progress legislation amendments.

As a Principal Policy Officer (L6), you will develop of a suite of policies for commercial leasing, licencing and permits to provide guidance to staff working under the Transport Portfolio, Land and Property Services office (TPLPS). Reporting to the Manager Policy, and alongside the Maritime Policy team, your expertise will be essential for reviewing and implementing comparative analysis of legislation and developing policies and procedures in relation to property administration.

These positions work with a wide variety of stakeholders at all levels, from support officers to contract consultants and senior management. Your ability to interpret complex policies and strategies will be integral to advising on solutions for internal stakeholders. Input into planned legislative reforms to consolidate and modernise maritime legislation will ensure your understanding of the legislative environment now and into the future.

There is currently 1 x L6, Principal Policy Officer fixed term position available for immediate filling for a period of approximately 12 months, with the possibility of extension(s) or permanency.

Suitable applicants will be placed in a pool from which appointments will be made for this or similar future vacancies (fixed term or permanent) that arise within the next 12 months from date of first appointment across the Department of Transport.
