  • Salary from $110K to $122K pa + super

NSW Resources (part of the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development) sets strategic policy for the state’s mineral and energy resources.

As a Policy Officer you’ll provide strategic policy and legislative advice including undertaking complex research and analysis for the development, coordination, implementation, and review of policies.

Your key accountabilities will include:

  • Contributing to strategic policy development to support the legislative change agenda
  • Preparing briefings and advice, including coordinating cross-divisional input
  • Undertaking research and analysis to inform effective decision-making
  • Providing advice on Cabinet matters and delivering a range of project management services in support of policy development and outcomes.

This is a great opportunity to get involved in policy development on significant Government issues including building economic opportunities associated with regions that are shifting away from coal and transition to net zero.

You’ll need to be someone who is flexible and adaptable, can respond quickly when situations change, and be confident working within politically sensitive environments.

You’ll thrive in a collaborative environment but also be able to also work independently with limited supervision as required.

You’ll also have strong communication skills, being able to tailor communication to diverse audiences, explaining complex concepts clearly, and writing fluently in plain English.
