Position: Disability Support Worker
We are currently seeking compassionate and skilled Disability Support Workers to join our dedicated team in a brand new Supported Independant Living (SIL) environment here in Toowoomba. As a Disability Support Worker, you will play a pivotal role in the lives of individuals with complex disabilities, providing specialised care and support to ensure their well-being and promote their independence.
Role Overview:
- Employment Type: Casual, with potential for permanent part-time for the right candidate.
- Salary: Industry-leading pay rates from $41.76 through to $91.88.
- Availability: Full and flexible availability to work across a flexible roster, including sleepovers, active night shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support and assist individuals with disabilities in their living environment.
- Provide quality in-home, community access, and/or centre-based care and support.
- Facilitate integration and participation in social, recreational, and educational activities.
- Carry out designated tasks and activities aimed at meeting participants' goals.
- Following the PBSP and ensuring de-scalation and redirection techniques are followed as per the PBSP.
- Experience or willing to undertake training in Hoist transfers and assist with manual handling activities
- Must be willing to complete personal care (including showering and grooming), and domestic assistance such as cooking, cleaning and supporting our participants environments.
- Be flexible with working hours to support participants.
Requirements:
- NDIS Worker Screening or Yellow Card - Disability. (No Card, No Start)
- Blue Card for working with children.
- Current Queensland driver's license.
- Current First Aid Certificate (HLTAID003 or equivalent) & CPR.
- Medication Management Certificate (Or Willing to obtain)
- Infection Control Certificate
- Right to Work Status
- Experience with following PBSP and understanding Re-Direction and De-Esclation strategies
- Certificate III in Disability or Community Services is highly regarded, but not compulsory.
- Experience in the disability sector is valued, and those willing to start or complete Certificate III are encouraged to apply.
- Knowledge of Person-Centred Practice and emphasises on providing high quality of care.
- Well-developed interpersonal skills and effective team communication.
- Ability to prioritize workload and respond to emergencies.
- Positive attitude and ability to multi-task.
