We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Disability Support Worker's to join our team and provide tailored support to a young person with unique needs. Further opportunities for shifts within our organisation to support others with disabilities may also be available.

About the role
We are seeking motivated and compassionate Male Support Workers looking for an IMMEDIATE START to join our team in Geelong, VIC. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in enhancing the lives of people with disabilities within our local community.

POSITION SUMMARY:

As a Disability Support Worker, you will play a key role in enhancing the quality of life of a young person with ASD and complex behaviours. You will provide:

Personal Care Assistance: Support with daily personal care tasks to maintain dignity and independence, including assistance with showering and toileting

Assistance to Access the Community: Facilitate participation in community activities, promoting social inclusion and skill development.

Behaviour Support Implementation: - an understanding of behaviour support plans and ability to follow procedures to support the management of complex behaviours. Working within the least restrictive way possible to promote dignity, independence and capacity building.

Collaborative Teamwork: Work closely with a multidisciplinary care team to deliver consistent and effective support, including communicating proactively and following care team directives in working towards positive outcomes for the participant and their family.

AM and PM shifts required

Reporting to the Team Leader

Key Responsibilities:

Ability to engage with clients, build rapport, motivate and build positive professional relationships

Work in a strengths-based recovery-oriented mode of practice

Build positive and respectful relationships with the young person and their family.

Support the development of life skills and independence.

Maintain accurate documentation and report any concerns to the care team.

Adhere to all policies, procedures, and legislative requirements, including safeguarding practices.

Providing personalised in-home care and support to clients, tailored to their individual needs and preferences

Assisting with daily living activities such as personal care, meal preparation, light housekeeping, and transportation

Engaging clients in social and recreational activities to promote their wellbeing and independence

About You

To succeed in this role, you will need:

Experience working with individuals with ASD and complex behaviours.

Knowledge of and experience implementing Behaviour Support Plans.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Empathy, patience, and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances.

A commitment to promoting inclusion and independence.

Essential Requirements:

Experience working with persons with disabilities, including those with presenting with complex behaviours and those requiring assistance with personal care. (Showering & Toileting)

Experience working within an NDIS framework (desirable).

Minimum Certificate IV in Disability, Community Services or related field.

First Aid and CPR certification

Training in medication administration

Current NDIS Worker Screening Check

Current driver's license and reliable and roadworthy vehicle
