Summary
Our Support Workers must have a passion for working with children and have a naturally engaging, friendly and warm presence, with strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to supporting the autism community.
Support Workers will work alongside children and their families, to support them at home and in the community with daily living skills, social participation, learning and recreational experiences, and activities to help sustain our client’s informal support network.
Support Workers will be expected to be professional, maintain confidentiality, flexible, reliable, collaborative, respectful, honest, positive and committed to ongoing professional development.
Mandatory Requirements
Personal or Professional experience caring for autistic children
Good verbal and written English communication skills
Physical ability to energetically play and lift young children (up to 20kg)
An unrestricted Australian Drivers License and own well maintained vehicle
Availability to work 6-30hours a week in the NOR area of Perth, WA
Availability to work at least two afternoons between 2pm and 5pm OR two mornings between 6am and 9am
Available to commit to regular weekly shifts during school term time
Own a smart mobile phone with roaming internet connection
Minimum Certificate III or IV in relevant area e.g., individual support, education support, youth work, community service,
OR
Currently studying for relevant qualification e.g. allied health, medicine, social work, education
Mandatory Requirements (or willing to obtain)
National Police Clearance
Current First Aid Certificate
Working with Children's Check
NDIS Worker Screening Check
Desirable Requirements
Personal or professional interest or experience living or supporting autistic individuals
Professional experience working with children and/or teenagers
Average or higher fitness levels including swimming competency
Degree qualified or higher or 3+ years experience if applying for therapy assisting work

We specialise in a range of autism services, which means that support workers may have opportunity to work in teams alongside therapists and educators.
