About the Position:

Job Title: Payroll Officer (casual, part-time hours)

Hours: 20 hours per week/40 hours per fortnight (part time hours, casual engagement)

Initial Assignment Length: An initial probationary period will apply, with potential for up to 6-months of initial contract term, and potential for extensions based on our clients needs

Casual Hourly Rate: $42.62 (inclusive of casual loading)

Location: Grafton

Major Duties:

  • Process the payment of employees (high-volume), ensuring that fortnightly and weekly timesheets are submitted, authorised and costed
  • Ensure all payments are made in accordance with Award and EA entitlements, and in line with employee contracts.
  • Award interpretation and a solutions' driven approach will be applied to each case - no two days are the same
  • Maintain the integrity of payroll files
  • Ensure staff members receiving workers compensation are appropriately identified, costed and paid in accordance with entitlements
  • Maintain appropriate audit trails
  • Ensure Pay Advices are issued to employees
  • Update leave requests and assist the Assistant Financial Accountant with employee leave entitlements
  • Assist in the calculation of variations to allowances, increments, back pays and entitlements of employees, in accordance with Awards, contracts and agreements
  • Assist in the preparation, reconciliation and remittance of monthly superannuation transfers, deadlines and maintenance
  • Complete documents and ensure employment forms are completed and submitted appropriately
  • Other duties as necessary

Essential Criteria:

  • Qualification/s in Accountant, Office Administration, or relevant industry experience
  • Demonstrated experience in Award interpretation and ability to understand variations within an Award or EA
  • Demonstrated problem-solving abilities, with flexibility to investigate, ask questions and deal with complex payroll and contract outcomes
  • Experience working in a high-volume payroll environment will be highly advantageous, however, the experience of working with complexity and in problem-solving scenarios will be more effective in this industry
  • Experience working with and adapting to new systems, with an ability to apply manual assistance - as systems are not fully automated.
  • Current Drivers Licence
  • Ability to pass a drug and alcohol test
  • Availability for part-time hours for the full duration of the assignment
