About the Organisation
This agency provides support and services defence personnel and their families. Its work includes delivering health care, rehabilitation, compensation, income support, and commemorative programs.

The Role
The position will work across Communications Branch to achieve communication objectives related to implementation of Royal Commission recommendations, drawing on the expertise of other teams in the Branch (e.g. web services, design and publishing, media, social and digital).

This is a 3-month contract position with potential for extension.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement external communication strategies and content for key departmental initiatives.
  • In consultation with the senior leaders including the Communication branch staff, develop and implement communication strategies and plans related to the Royal commission recommendations.
  • Review Royal Commission information on the Department’s intranet and website, and work with the Royal Commission Implementation Branch and the Department’s web services team to reinvigorate content, ensuring transparency of information and progress.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Contribute to broader communication projects and the implementation of the external communication strategy.

Skills and Experience Required:
Government experience is required for this position. Our client is only looking for current APS employees.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages to different audiences and platforms.
  • Strong project and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strategic thinking, sound judgement, and creative problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team and adapt to changing priorities.

A baseline clearance will be required for this opportunity however the Department will sponsor this if not already held.
