- Base Salary $140,913 - $148,684 + 17% superannuation (pro-rata to 0.6 FTE)
About the opportunity
The Research and Prototype Foundry (RPF) at the University of Sydney (USYD) is a world-class facility specialising in advanced nanofabrication and microfabrication technologies. It provides cutting-edge equipment, expertise, and industry collaboration opportunities to support research and innovation in semiconductors, photonics, quantum technologies, and biomedical devices.
Join a dynamic team at the forefront of advanced semiconductor fabrication, electronics, and quantum research. As the External Engagement Manager, you will drive industry collaborations, government partnerships, and university engagement to develop cutting-edge capabilities in advanced packaging and heterogeneous integration. Your expertise will help shape the future of Australia's semiconductor sector.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
- engage with university, industry, and government stakeholders to identify and develop strategic opportunities aligned with ANFF's objectives
- provide expert advice on industry needs and opportunities in advanced semiconductor packaging and heterogeneous integration
- support ANFF researchers by identifying strategic and technical requirements, specifying tooling, and assessing existing capabilities
- advise on the development and enhancement of technical processes for advanced semiconductor packaging across ANFF's national network
- represent ANFF at meetings, presenting technical capabilities to government agencies, local industry, and research institutions
- maintain productive relationships with ANFF facilities to ensure effective delivery of research services aligned with stakeholder needs.
About you

- demonstrated knowledge of industry sectors such as advanced manufacturing, defence, medtech, telecoms, and ICT
- strong understanding of semiconductor manufacturing processes, packaging trends, and their application in industry
- proven experience in negotiating and managing complex commercial partnerships
- excellent interpersonal skills, with a track record of building and maintaining stakeholder relationships
- strong project management and organisational skills to coordinate and support key initiatives
- tertiary qualifications in a relevant field (engineering and/or physics).
