Seeking an Early Childhood Assistant Teacher

Contract: 0.78 FTE, commencing immediately (Term 2, 2025)

Salary - $29.79 -$41.41/hr (depending on qualifications)

We are currently seeking applications for an Early Childhood Assistant Teacher to work in our Billy Button and Ruby Saltbush Preschool, commencing in Term 2, 2025, with a group of approximately 16 children each day.

You will be required to work during the following hours: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 8:15am – 3:15pm, Wednesday & Friday 8:15am-1:00pm. The hours are 59hrs a fortnight.

The successful applicant will be passionate about education. They will understand Steiner pedagogy and have a willingness to learn more. Our Early Childhood rooms are beautiful, home-like environments with a Steiner, play- based program for children.

Essential Criteria:

• An ability to be quietly there for the children and the teacher enables a smooth flow of the day.
• Being focused and emotionally present allows children to model the same and allows the teacher to be able to concentrate on the tasks she needs to do.
• An eye for beauty and reverence for everything we do in our work and play really enhances the atmosphere in the Preschool. This is demonstrated by the care we take in our tasks, in how we handle the toys and other materials and in making every occasion as nourishing and uplifting to the senses as possible.
• To work with individuals as well as small groups of children while going about every-day tasks such as cooking, cleaning, setting the table.
• To be quietly supportive to children who may have difficulty focusing or need special attention at the teacher’s direction or as needed.
• To speak quietly to the children in interactions and model a peaceful, centred, and warm life.
• To help record child observations.
• To prepare specific learning materials for individual children
• To supervise children with great care during outdoor play time.

Qualifications

Preferred Certificate 3 in Children Services but not essential. The applicant will also need to hold a current Ochre Card, (or be able to provide these prior to the contract start date).
