About the opportunity

Southern Cross University’s Southern Cross Analytical Research Services (SCARS) is seeking a casual Administration Assistant to support the Analytical Research Laboratory’s operations. This is a great opportunity to further your administration career. Your duties will include:

  • Unpacking, checking, and labelling incoming research and commercial samples and assisting with sample preparation, labelling, and packaging for external analysis.
  • Accurately entering sample data into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS).
  • Responding to client enquiries via phone, email, or in person and directing as required.
  • Liaising with external laboratories regarding subcontracted analysis.
  • Adhering to safety protocols and regulatory requirements.
About you

The ideal candidate will be highly organised with strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to administrative tasks. More specifically, you will have:

  • Experience in a range of general office and computer-based systems with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to use initiative.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

This casual role offers great working conditions on campus at Lismore, NSW 2480, with supervision and on the job training.

The current hourly rate for casual administrative staff is from $45.01 an hour plus superannuation.
