As Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Biochemistry, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Biochemistry education and research in the Curtin Medical School. In this role, you will:
- Educate and inspire: Develop and deliver curriculum in our growing school and support research-informed Biochemistry education across Pharmacy, Laboratory Medicine, Medicine and Biomedical Science degrees. This will also involve the coordination and teaching of units in person and online.
- Advance research: Undertake research in cutting-edge Biochemistry, and contribute to the latest advancements and discoveries in the industry using Curtin’s globally competitive medical research facilities.
About the Team
The Curtin Medical School encompasses the disciplines of Medicine, Laboratory Medicine, Pharmacy, Biomedical Science and Medical Radiation Science. The School forms part of the Faculty of Health Sciences, and is affiliated with two research institutes: the Curtin Medical Research Institute and the Curtin enAble Institute.
The School’s mission – “To improve health in society through excellence and innovation in teaching, research and engagement with the university and global medical and bioscience communities” – guides a suite of eight undergraduate courses and Higher Degrees by Research, and a wide range of research in laboratory, clinical and community settings.

Selection Criteria
- Current permanent work rights in Australia. (Note that a National Police Clearance and reference checks will be required for the successful applicant.)
- A PhD in Biochemistry or a directly related field.
- High-level teaching skills in Biochemistry, with a reflective and scholarly approach to teaching, and experience in curriculum development and coordination.
- An emerging (ALB) or established (ALC) research profile through publication in high-quality journals/outlets relevant to Biochemistry.
- Successful supervision of Honours (ALB) or Higher Degree by Research (ALC) students.
- An emerging (ALB) or established (ALC) record of obtaining research income, including nationally competitive research grants and/or fellowships.
- Ability to develop a collegial, supportive and inclusive working environment, lead collaborative initiatives, and provide mentoring to less-experienced staff and students.
