Are you an experienced clinician with a passion for teaching and a desire to shape the next generation of medical professionals? Curtin Medical School is excited to offer an exceptional opportunity for a clinician to join our dynamic team as a Lecturer/Senior Lecturer - Clinical Skills Coordinator, on a Part-time (0.4FTE) continuing basis.
In this pivotal role, you will coordinate and lead Clinical Skills sessions for third-year medical students, developing and delivering content while ensuring an engaging and enriching learning experience. You will play an integral role in shaping the curriculum, assessing student progress, and supporting their development as future healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate Clinical Skills Sessions: Lead weekly sessions, ensuring alignment with curriculum goals.
- Content & Curriculum Development: Continuously update and improve clinical skills content, ensuring relevance and innovation.
- Simulated Patient Training: Develop and deliver training for simulated patients to ensure high-quality practice for students.
- Assessment Design & Review: Create, review, and standardise clinical skills assessment items to align with academic standards.
- Interactive Seminars & Workshops: Deliver seminars and workshops based on your clinical expertise.
- Student Engagement: Provide real-time, actionable feedback to students on their performance and participation in teaching activities.
- Mentoring: Foster a supportive, inclusive learning environment, mentoring students to achieve academic and professional success.
- End-of-Year OSCE: Collaborate with the OSCE lead in setting up and participating as an examiner for the end-of-year OSCE assessment.
We are looking for
- Fellowship of a relevant medical college in Australia.
- A medical degree and doctoral qualification (or equivalent accreditation and professional standing).
- Extensive experience in healthcare education and a solid understanding of educational practices.
- A commitment to excellence in teaching and fostering student development.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable:
- Unrestricted AHPRA registration as a medical practitioner without any current undertakings or conditions.
Role Requirements
As this is a continuing (permanent) role, you will require permanent work rights in Australia to be considered. Successful applicants are subject to a National Police Clearance, and background, integrity, and reference checks to Curtin’s satisfaction.
About the Team
The Curtin Medical School (CMS) encompasses the disciplines of Medicine, Laboratory Medicine, Pharmacy, Biomedical Science, and Medical Radiation Science. CMS forms part of the Faculty of Health Sciences and is affiliated with two research institutes; the Curtin Medical Research Institute (Curtin MRI) and the enAble Institute for Health Science (enAble).
