Their competitive advantage lies in engineering a premium-quality product at an affordable price point—solving the common industry dilemma of choosing between expensive, high-quality options or cheaper products.

Manufacturing takes place in an ISO-certified facility that produces similar products found in Australian supermarkets, ensuring consistent quality and reliability that childcare centres can depend on.

With a national reach through distributor networks, our client has achieved impressive market penetration with approximately 30% of Australian childcare centres (around 3,000 centres) currently using their products.

While already well-established in Queensland and with distribution in southern states including New South Wales and South Australia, significant growth opportunities remain in untapped markets like Western Australia.

The company is planning expansion beyond childcare within the next 18-24 months, with potential new markets including convenience stores, Amazon, and direct-to-consumer channels—creating substantial growth potential for the right candidate.

The Impact You’ll Make

As Business Development Manager, you'll drive strategic sales growth by strengthening existing distributor relationships and establishing new partnerships nationwide, helping our client build on their already impressive 30% market share in the childcare industry.

Reporting directly to the company founders, you'll work with significant autonomy while having access to director-level support and guidance when needed—ideal for a self-starter who values independence with backing.

Target industries are focused on childcare sector distributors initially, with potential expansion into pharmacy, convenience store, and direct-to-consumer channels in the future.

The role involves approximately 70% new business development and 30% account management, requiring proactive outbound prospecting and relationship-building with both new and existing distributors.

As the first dedicated sales professional in the organisation, you'll have the opportunity to establish sales systems and processes based on your expertise and successful methodologies.

The Experience You’ll Bring

  • You have demonstrated success in business-to-business sales with the ability to engage decision-makers in business-led conversations that focus on commercial outcomes and value.
  • Experience selling products through distributor networks or to business owners would be highly advantageous, though specific industry experience is less important than your sales capability and business acumen.
  • Your personality is characterised by a go-getter attitude, independent thinking, and self-motivation—you're someone who can plan effectively, execute consistently, and achieve results without constant supervision.
  • Connections within the childcare industry or experience with potential expansion markets like pharmacies or convenience stores would be a bonus but is not essential for success in this role.
  • You must be Queensland-based and willing to work primarily from the Underwood office when not visiting clients, with availability for interstate travel to meet with distributors
