The role
Coordinate and lead the Building Services team across the Mount Alexander and Hepburn Shires in accordance with legislation through:
- Fulfilling delegated Council duties under the Building Act 1993 and Building Regulations 2018
- Providing specialist advice to internal and external stakeholders
- Preparation and presentation of verbal and written reports to Council
- Budget submissions and regular financial monitoring and reporting
- Representation of both Councils at hearings, tribunals and other formal meetings
- Leading, mentoring and developing staff within the team
Our ideal candidate
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Relevant qualifications, and registration with the Victorian Building Authority as a Building Surveyor – limited / unlimited
- Extensive experience as a Building Surveyor, and leading a team
- Detailed knowledge of the relevant Acts, Regulations, Standards, policies and building processes from design through to completion
- Experience in the preparation and presentation of high quality reports
- Sound knowledge of budgeting and financial procedures
- Local Government experience highly desirable
