The role

Coordinate and lead the Building Services team across the Mount Alexander and Hepburn Shires in accordance with legislation through:

  • Fulfilling delegated Council duties under the Building Act 1993 and Building Regulations 2018
  • Providing specialist advice to internal and external stakeholders
  • Preparation and presentation of verbal and written reports to Council
  • Budget submissions and regular financial monitoring and reporting
  • Representation of both Councils at hearings, tribunals and other formal meetings
  • Leading, mentoring and developing staff within the team

Our ideal candidate

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • Relevant qualifications, and registration with the Victorian Building Authority as a Building Surveyor – limited / unlimited
  • Extensive experience as a Building Surveyor, and leading a team
  • Detailed knowledge of the relevant Acts, Regulations, Standards, policies and building processes from design through to completion
  • Experience in the preparation and presentation of high quality reports
  • Sound knowledge of budgeting and financial procedures
  • Local Government experience highly desirable
