On this occasion, our colleagues in Blacktown City Council have asked us to source a Catchment Projects Officer to join their team until mid-August initially. Make no mistake about it, this is a prime role, bang in the middle of some fantastic local waterway projects that will set your career on a strong positive trajectory.

In this role, you will have a very strong fucus on project managing the Blacktown City Council creek naturalisation projects and masterplans. In doing so, you will work with the wider Council Environment team and local community stakeholders to improve waterway health and enhance the overall liveability of local residents and victors alike. In this role, you will have a rarely seen opportunity to make true, physical change to the landscape and feel of the city.

In order to secure this role, we are seeking an experience Environmental professional who has managed high-level projects such as this in the past. Some of the key selection criteria which you need to consider are as follows:

  1. Degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Environmental Engineering
  2. Demonstrated experience in managing creek naturalisation and waterway improvement projects including scoping and undertaking background studies and feasibility assessments
  3. Experience in the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) including ESRI Arc GIS and QGIS or similar
  4. Demonstrated in-depth experience and knowledge of catchment and stormwater management practices
  5. Demonstrated experience in full lifecycle project management including managing contractors to meet timeframes and within budget
  6. Demonstrated experience in developing and administering financial budgets
  7. Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively work with internal and external stakeholders to achieve good environmental, social and economic outcomes
  8. Demonstrated experience in the application of water sensitive urban design (WSUD) projects including stormwater harvesting and reuse would be beneficial
  9. Experience in applying for and administering environmental grants would be well thought of
  10. Experience in the use of CM9 and Technology One would be beneficial
