Catchment Project Officer
Position Purpose:
As a Catchment Project Officer, you will play a pivotal role in managing creek naturalisation and waterway improvement projects, enhancing waterway health, and promoting community livability. Your work will contribute to the sustainable management of our local waterways and stormwater systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and deliver creek naturalisation and waterway improvement projects to enhance the health of local ecosystems and benefit the community.
- Provide technical expertise in integrated water management, stormwater management, and creek restoration.
- Lead projects funded through the Environmental Stormwater Management Program.
- Monitor project progress, manage budgets, and ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget.
- Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to drive positive environmental, social, and economic outcomes.
- Incorporate Caring for Country principles into waterway management practices in collaboration with our First Nations communities.
- Maintain project records, ensuring compliance with quality assurance systems and environmental sustainability policies.
- Provide advice on stormwater, catchment management, and water-sensitive urban design (WSUD) practices.
Qualifications and Experience:
Essential:
- Degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Environmental Engineering, or related field.
- Proven experience in managing creek naturalisation and waterway improvement projects, including scoping, feasibility assessments, and project delivery.
- In-depth knowledge of catchment and stormwater management practices.
- Demonstrated project management experience, including managing contractors, budgets, and timelines.
- Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS), including ESRI ArcGIS, QGIS, or similar software.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
- Current Class "C" driver's licence.
Desirable:
- Four years of experience in a similar role.
- Experience with water-sensitive urban design (WSUD) projects, including stormwater harvesting and reuse.
- Proven track record in securing and managing environmental grants.
- Familiarity with CM9 and Technology One.
