Purpose of role:
- Project managing creek naturalisation and waterway improvement projects to improve waterway health and enhance the liveability for the community.
Qualifications & Experience:
Essental:
- Degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resources, Environmental Engineering
- Demonstrated experience in managing creek naturalisation and waterway improvement projects including scoping and undertaking background studies and feasibility assessments.
- Demonstrated in-depth experience and knowledge of catchment and stormwater management practices.
- Demonstrated experience in full lifecycle project management including managing contractors to meet timeframes and within budget.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and administering financial budgets.
- Excellent interpersonal skills to effectively work with internal and external stakeholders to achieve good environmental, social and economic outcomes
- Experience in the use of Microsoft Office.
- Current Class “C” driver’s licence.
Desirable:
- Four years’ experience in a similar work environment.
- Demonstrated experience in the application of water sensitive urban design (WSUD) projects including stormwater harvesting and reuse.
- Demonstrated experience in applying for and administering environmental grants.
- Experience in the use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) including ESRI Arc GIS and QGIS or similar.
- Experience in the use of CM9 and Technology One.
Duties:
- Scope and manage creek naturalisation and waterway improvement projects.
- Manage financial budgets and work with other Council sections undertaking Environmental stormwater management program activities to ensure operational and budget targets are successfully met.
- Work with our First Nations community to ensure Caring for Country principles are embedded in our strategies, plans and actions for catchment and waterway management.
- Deliver a wide variety of projects from on-ground works to feasibility studies, including identifying and scoping projects and preparing business cases for project delivery.
- Write consultant briefs and supervise consultants engaged on providing professional investigation, consultancy services and on-ground works.
- Manage contractors to ensure projects are implemented on time, on budget and to a high quality.
- Provide professional technical advice relating to integrated water management, stormwater, and catchment management planning and creek rehabilitation to internal stakeholders.
- Maintain adequate records on appropriate files of all projects having due regard to Asset Design’s Quality Assurance Management System.
This is a 5 month contract starting at the end of March 2025.
Hours are 9am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday.
Weekly paid on the receipt of an authorised electronic timesheet.
