About This Opportunity

We are looking for a motivated and proactive Student and Academic Administration Officer to join the School of Biomedical Sciences. In this dynamic role, you will provide exceptional customer service and offer accurate, helpful advice to students, academics, and professional staff. The ideal candidate will bring strong administrative experience, particularly with Excel spreadsheets, and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Attention to detail and the ability to build effective working relationships are key to success in this position. As part of a close-knit team of 7, you will support 30 courses each semester with thousands of students, contributing to the smooth operation of the School within a busy university setting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide timely and accurate information to students, staff, and stakeholders, ensuring compliance with university policies, guidelines, and relevant legislation. Maintain strong relationships with colleagues to streamline processes and effectively troubleshoot issues.
  • Support large-scale administrative needs for 30 courses with thousands of students. Undertake key tasks to deadlines such as updating course profiles, delivering School-based exams, assessing requests to defer or extend assessment dates, finalising assessment marks, processing grade amendments, and course enrolment procedures.
  • Use advanced Excel skills to prepare, analyse, and interpret reports, including using and updating formulas. Participate in event management for University engagement activities, prepare secretarial support for meetings, and implement strategies to improve workflow efficiency.

About You
  • A strong understanding of administrative processes or the ability to quickly gain knowledge.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in written work.
  • Strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • A commitment to providing customer service and empathy for students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience in a tertiary education institution or similar organisation is preferred.
