About the Company

Our client is an Australian privately owned family business in the Manufacturing industry. With over six decades of experience, specialising in custom solutions/products. This is a well-established business, operating from purpose-built premises, with state-of-the-art processing and handling equipment, and a well-trained and motivated staff.

Key Responsibilities

New Business Development:

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities with a focus on rail, armaments, and general manufacturing industries.
  • Develop and execute sales strategies to penetrate target markets and grow revenue.
  • Generate leads, conduct cold outreach, and engage decision-makers.
  • Understand customer requirements and position our foundry’s capabilities effectively.

Client Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including procurement managers, engineers, and executives.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to potential clients, addressing concerns and offering tailored solutions.
  • Negotiate contracts and pricing in collaboration with internal teams.

Industry and Market Research:

  • Stay updated on industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging opportunities.
  • Gather market intelligence to refine sales strategies and identify areas for business expansion including new products and services.
  • Attend industry events, trade shows, and networking opportunities to build brand presence.

Collaboration and Reporting:

  • Work closely with internal teams (engineering, production, and quality) to ensure customer requirements are met.
  • Provide regular sales reports, forecasts, and project updates to management.
  • Contribute to product development discussions by relaying customer feedback and market demands.

About you

  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of sales experience in industrial applications.
  • Industry Knowledge: Familiarity with rail, armaments, and manufacturing industries, including procurement processes and supply chain dynamics.
  • Sales Skills: Proven ability to identify opportunities, close deals, and manage short and long sales cycles.
  • Communication: Excellent negotiation, presentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel intrastate (fortnightly) and interstate (overnight, once every 7-8 weeks) as required to meet clients and attend industry events.
  • Proficient computer skills across the Microsoft Office suite of programs
  • Trade qualification or Engineering/Materials Science qualification or prior knowledge of the industry is an advantage.
  • Strong time management and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously, unsupervised, and as part of a team.
  • A professional with excellent people skills and the ability to work collaboratively with the Business Development Manager, Engineering and Estimating departments.
  • Someone with the initiative to take ownership of tasks, solve challenges, and contribute to a fast-paced technical sales environment.
  • A team player who strives to provide customer service excellence.
