We are currently seeking a talented and ambitious Business Development Manager to join a leading chemical and solvents solutions provider based in Sydney. About the Role:
As the Business Development Manager, you will play a key role in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities. You will be responsible for leading sales efforts, securing long-term partnerships, and helping the company grow its footprint in a competitive market. You will collaborate closely with senior leadership, sales teams, and operational staff to ensure the delivery of tailored solutions for clients and a smooth sales process from initial engagement through to contract closure.
Key Responsibilities:
- Business Strategy Development: Develop and execute innovative business development strategies to grow the company's market share in the Australasian region. Identify new business opportunities, sectors, and verticals for growth.
- Lead Generation and Sales Pipeline Management: Source new leads, qualify prospects, and manage the sales pipeline, ensuring strong follow-through from prospecting to closing deals.
- Client Relationship Management: Build, develop, and maintain lasting relationships with key clients and industry stakeholders. Act as the primary point of contact for high-value accounts and nurture long-term partnerships.
- Market Research & Competitor Analysis: Continuously monitor and analyse the market, trends, and competitors to identify business opportunities, competitive threats, and areas for differentiation.
- Collaboration with Internal Teams: Work closely with marketing, product development, and operations teams to design and deliver customized solutions tailored to customer needs.
- Performance Reporting: Regularly report on business development activities, sales targets, and results. Provide insights to senior leadership on progress, challenges, and market dynamics.
Key Requirements:
- Industry Experience: A minimum of 5 years of experience in business development or sales roles within the chemical, industrial, manufacturing, or related sectors is highly desirable.
- Market Knowledge: Solid understanding of the Australasian market, including key industries, competitors, and customer needs. A deep awareness of the chemical and solvents market will be an advantage.
- Sales Acumen: Proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets, including managing the full sales cycle from lead generation to closing.
- Relationship Building: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build long-lasting relationships with clients, suppliers, and industry stakeholders.
- Strategic Thinking: Ability to develop and execute business strategies while staying adaptable to market shifts. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to think creatively to meet customer demands.
- Communication Skills: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present to executives, stakeholders, and clients.
- Self-Motivation & Initiative: A proactive and goal-oriented mindset with a desire to achieve measurable results. Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Qualifications: A degree in business, engineering, chemistry, or a related field is preferred, but not essential.
