About the role

We are actively seeking a competent and experienced Electrical Estimator to work from our Peakhurst office part time 3-4 days a week. This role would suit a well experienced candidate looking to wind down their work load and enjoy a greater work/life balance. Duties will include (but not limited to) the following:

Business Development:

• Involvement in forming relationships with potential clients.
• Involvement in forming and maintaining relationships with potential subcontractors.
• Involvement in enhancing the business brand and reputation through industry networks, associations and business channels.

Tendering Responsibilities:

• Prepare accurate material, labour, and equipment cost estimates based on project plans, specifications, RFT, contractual terms and other documentation.
• Identify potential design changes and cost saving to help secure projects.
• Undertake subcontractor site visits during tendering to review site conditions and manage contractor RFIs.
• Manage, review and validation of all quotation packages supplied by sub-contractors and suppliers.
• Provide advice for construction methodology during tender review meetings.
• Proactive involvement during tender negotiations with clients and defending of presented costs.
• Maintain tender document management and filing for all tender context.
• Provide compliant tender submissions to client. To include but not limited to: schedule break ups, compliance statements, cover letters or main offer letters, programming and contract departures.
• Identify major WHS and commercial risks associated with specific tender projects.
• Work closely with the projects, service, control, WHS and legal teams.
• Liaise with and build continued relationships with existing clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends, market conditions, and pricing fluctuations to ensure competitive and accurate bids.

Skills & experience

• Minimum 5 years’ experience as an Electrical Estimator in similar roles across electrical, standby generators and control systems.
• Strong knowledge of construction materials, methods, and building codes.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Understanding of AS3000, 3008, 3010, Supply Authority rules and regulations, and local council requirements.
• Electrical trade or engineering background.
• Proven experience in major commercial projects.
• Positive, can-do mind set and confident dealing with clients.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrate strong analytical skills, problem solving attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and a deep understanding of industry trends and best practices.
• Advanced Excel, MS word, Teams and Outlook skills - additional experience in Simpro beneficial.

To be successful in this role you will have:

• Consistent track record of preparing ‘winning’ tenders.
• Formal qualifications in electrical engineering, quantity surveying, construction management or similar, or applicable trade background with relevant time spent in an estimating role.
• Exposure to the construction of various commercial facilities – Education, Retail, Health, Aged Care, Office, Manufacturing and Industrial.
• Specific experience estimating for electrical switchboard and power distribution upgrades and generator standby power systems.
• Good understanding overall of all building trade requirements.
