We are seeking a passionate Pastry/Gelato Chef to join the kitchen with a positive attitude to work in a team and to provide excellent baking service. The position will need to bake, make buttercream, fill, and decorate cakes, and make gelato including gelato cakes. This position will be reporting to our Bakery Manager and the job description includes but is not limited to:

  • Designing and experimenting with new dessert/cake recipes, ensuring they are both innovative and aligned with current trends.
  • Preparing doughs, batters, and gelato bases, ensuring consistency, quality, and flavor in all products.
  • Decorating cakes, and gelato cakes to create visually appealing products that meet customer expectations.
  • Monitoring and maintaining high standards of cleanliness, organization, and safety in the kitchen, ensuring all ingredients and tools are properly handled.
  • Selecting and sourcing high-quality ingredients for various desserts, paying attention to seasonality and freshness.
  • Managing inventory and ensuring supplies are stocked and properly stored to avoid waste and ensure smooth kitchen operations.
  • Occasionally interacting with customers to take orders or customize desserts to specific preferences.
  • Working closely with other kitchen staff to ensure cakes are prepared and made efficiently and in a timely manner.
  • Ensuring the proper use and maintenance of kitchen equipment, such as mixers, ovens, gelato machines and pasteuriser.
  • Adhering to hygiene and food safety standards in all aspects of preparation and handling of ingredients.

Apart from these efficient Pastry/Gelato Chef excellence, you should possess the following qualities.

  • Need to be a qualified pastry chef
  • At least two to three years of experience in a similar position
  • Be cool under pressure and love the pressure of a busy kitchen.
  • Be able to help maximise profitability and control costs.
  • Be an excellent team player and should be able to deliver the best even under excessive working pressure.
  • Take pride in producing high-quality products
  • Having experience making gelato and gelato cakes.

Type - Full-time, Permanent

Salary - AUD 74000 per annum plus superannuation.
