As the Qualified Pastry & Restaurant Chef, you will play a pivotal role in our kitchen, acting as second-in-command to the Executive Head Chef. You will oversee daily operations, lead the team in the absence of the Head Chef, and contribute to our menu with innovative pastry creations and diverse culinary offerings. Previous café management experience is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities:
· Manage a fast-paced kitchen catering to the tourism sector, with takeaway and dine-in services for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
· Schedule staff, organize rosters, conduct stocktake audits, and manage inventory orders.
· Oversee food preparation for daily service and special functions, creating event-specific menus.
· Operate and maintain a variety of kitchen equipment, including pizza ovens, fryers, grilles, gas burners, and conventional ovens.
· Perform general kitchen duties and manage time efficiently during slower periods.
· Develop, test, and refine innovative recipes for cakes, pastries, and desserts.
· Prepare fresh pastries, including cakes, pies, and both hot and cold desserts daily.
· Perform barista duties and serve alcoholic beverages as needed.
· Support front-of-house, back-of-house, and kitchen operations as an all-rounder when required.
· Foster positive interactions with customers, clients, and suppliers to build strong relationships.

· Proven leadership experience in a busy café or restaurant environment.
· Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
· Expertise in food preparation, presentation, and kitchen management.
· Creative flair for developing tailored menus for special events.
· Passion for culinary innovation, particularly in pastries and diverse cuisines.
· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
· Flexibility to work varied hours, including weekends, school holidays, and public holidays.
· Strong time management skills, especially during quieter periods.
· Current Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) certificate.
· Essential barista experience.
· Own accommodation and reliable transport.
