About CASWA
The Council of Aboriginal Services Western Australia (CASWA) is dedicated to strengthening the Aboriginal Community Controlled Organisation (ACCO) sector in WA by supporting self-determination, cultural authority, and sector development. CASWA works closely with ACCOs to ensure Aboriginal-led solutions drive systemic change, particularly in areas like justice, health, housing, and child protection.
About the role
CASWA is seeking a Child Safe Program Manager to lead engagement with ACCOs across WA in implementing the National Child Safe Principles and culturally informed child protection strategies. The role will support ACCOs in building child-safe cultures, strengthening safeguarding policies, and ensuring compliance with child safety regulations in a way that reflects Aboriginal values, community expectations, and self-determination.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead co-design and implementation of child-safe policies, frameworks, and practices with Aboriginal Community-Controlled Organisations (ACCOs).
- Provide training, resources, and capacity-building support to help Aboriginal organisations meet and exceed child safety standards.
- Facilitate culturally safe approaches to child protection through collaboration with Aboriginal organisations, government agencies, and stakeholders.
- Develop governance and reporting mechanisms to strengthen accountability and continuous improvement in child safety.
- Advocate for policy and system changes that promote Aboriginal-led solutions to child safety while contributing to research and evaluation efforts.
To excel in this role, you will have:
- Strong understanding of National Child Safe Principles and their application in Aboriginal community-controlled settings, with knowledge of relevant legislation and frameworks.
- Demonstrated experience working with Aboriginal communities and organisations, with a commitment to self-determination principles.
- Excellent facilitation, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to develop culturally appropriate training and policies.
- Experience in policy, governance, or program development within child protection or community services, with the ability to work independently across multiple regions.
What you'll get in return
While you will face diverse new challenges in the role, you will also enjoy an attractive remuneration package including a competitive base salary of $122,684.53 - $125,387.72 per annum pro rata plus superannuation. You'll also gain access to generous salary packaging options, which will greatly increase your take-home pay.
