About the role

The Child Safe and Compliance Advisor will coordinate and facilitate Council’s child safety program to uphold Council’s commitment to protecting the physical, emotional, cultural and social wellbeing of children and young people.

The role is responsible for the development, implementation and monitoring of policies, systems and processes across Council to ensure legislative compliance.

The Child Safe and Compliance Advisor will work with key stakeholders across Council to educate staff and the community in relation to their obligations for the safety and wellbeing of children and young people, including the prevention, investigation and reporting of all child abuse. The incumbent will liaise across the organisation, as applicable, to ensure the implementation and compliance with the Reportable Conduct Scheme and the mandatory reporting requirements for nominated professionals.

This is a full-time temporary role until 30 June 2026, working across all Council locations. We support flexible working arrangements while ensuring operational needs of the role are met.

Remuneration for this role will be under Band 6 of the Knox City Council Enterprise Agreement with a salary range $95,488.69 to $104,288.00 depending on experience, plus superannuation in accordance with the Superannuation Guarantee.

What you will need to thrive

  • In-depth knowledge of the Victorian Child Safe Standards, relevant legislation and the Reportable Conduct Scheme
  • Experience working collaboratively across organisation to effectively implement policy and procedures and monitor compliance
  • Demonstrated understanding and pursuit of the characteristics of a child safe organisation and the ability to develop, deliver and facilitate progress, education and improvement.
  • High level project, program and change management skills and experience
  • High level interpersonal skills, including the ability to influence, communicate and adapt messages to different audiences
  • Good knowledge of child protection arrangements and relevant legislation and direct experience in with or in relation to children and or young people in complex and sometimes challenging circumstances
