About the role We are seeking a Youth Access Worker to provide a welcoming first point of contact for young people and their families seeking support from headspace Liverpool and Edmonson Park.
This position offers the opportunity to:
- carry out intake processes and assess the mental health and psycho-social support needs of young people referred to headspace
- undertake short-term support and interventions, conducting intake assessments, and coordinating appropriate supports and treatment streams within and external to headspace.
- Adapt to the differing operational demands of headspace Liverpool and Edmonson Park, which vary due to levels of activity and growth. This includes managing fluctuating service needs, ensuring efficient assessments, triaging, and coordination of referrals, while supporting the unique processes and priorities of each centre.
We have a full-time opportunity available. Full-time employees can opt to enjoy a rostered day off each month. The role is currently fixed term until 30 June 2026, with extensions subject to additional funding.
This role will involve providing services across both headspace Liverpool and headspace Edmondson Park centres. While you will be primarily based at the Liverpool location, you must be prepared to work at both sites as required to support service delivery. Why join us?

We are looking for someone with:
- Qualifications or working towards same in a relevant field such as in youth work, social work, mental health nursing, psychology, peer work, occupational therapy, counselling, or other related qualifications or demonstrated experience in a similar role.
- Demonstrated understanding of the health and wellbeing needs of young people with mental health and/or substance use problems including an ability to engage and communicate effectively with young people.
- Demonstrated ability to undertake assessment and screening of young people and their families to determine care needs and assist to access necessary services.
- Experience in providing counselling services to young people.

It is a part of the Youth Mental Health Team within Grand Pacific Health (GPH).
