Sustainability Manager

We are a boutique, HVAC (heating, ventilation and air conditioning) Building Services consulting firm that has been providing high quality engineering services since 1990. GWA is passionate about improving the performance and efficiency of existing buildings. We work closely with our clients to achieve peak building performance and reduced carbon emissions.

We have a unique opportunity for a Sustainability Manager to join the team and build our Sustainability Division from the ground up, while providing sustainability insights and inputs to our existing project and client base.

This is a client-facing consulting role utilising your sustainability expertise gained within a professional services or consulting firm in the commercial building services sector.

You will be part of our management team and report directly to the company Directors.

The role…

• Grow GWA’s capability to provide sustainability services such as NABERS and Green Star certifications and upgrade pathways, net zero and decarbonisation road maps, energy modelling, carbon footprint assessments and energy audits by creating our new Sustainability Division.
• Create and implement business growth plans for the Sustainability Division.
• Keep abreast of industry developments and propose new initiatives and services that support the growth of the Sustainability Division.
• Build and maintain relationships with existing and new customers.
• Manage clients, projects and staff, with a focus on climate change, sustainability, energy and environment related projects.
• Collaborate with our mechanical services team to provide input for our existing projects and client base.
• Perform design reviews and analyse engineering alternatives from an energy, carbon and general sustainability perspective.

The successful candidate will…

• Have a passion for sustainability, climate change and environmental issues.
• Have experience in managing a team.
• Have NABERS accreditation, experience in providing building energy ratings and experience in providing input to design teams to achieve positive NABERS outcomes. Green Star Accredited professionals and proficiency in the WELL Building Standard will be highly regarded.
• Be proficient in the use of IES suitable to carry out independent modelling and provide training to team members.
• Have experience working within a consulting environment in the commercial building services industry.
• Be comfortable, confident and effective in delivering verbal and written communication in a client facing environment.
• Have the ability to work autonomously in a technical capacity while they develop the Sustainability Department.
• Experience in the commercial building sector would be highly regarded.
