B & K Bulk Haulage is a family operated Road Transport Company, established in Gladstone in 2011 with just one truck. Since then, the company has grown to a modern fleet, delivering reliable service and support to the mining, construction, civil industries - Australia wide, 24 hours 7 days week and now includes approx. 100 staff working across 4 depots in 3 states. Due to continued growth, we are currently recruiting a Business Manager to support all of our back of house functions. Job Description: As a Business Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing and supporting the day-to-day business functions or this growing organisation. Your role will involve ensuring the overall efficiency and functionality of the business functions.

Key Responsibilities:

General Business management:

  • Develop and implement business strategies to achieve company goals and objectives.
  • Support financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting.
  • Support company directors to manage and lead a team of employees, providing guidance and support to ensure high performance.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and regulations and spearhead ISO accreditation programs.
  • Foster a positive and productive work environment.

Human Resources:

  • Take hands on responsibility for all HR functions including recruitment and retention strategies, performance management, training and development of all employees.
  • Be responsible for award and NES interpretation for all compensation and benefits programs ensuring compliance at all times.
  • Align all HR decisions and strategies with operational requirements and organisational goals.

HSEQ:

  • Implement risk management and compliance systems/processes and embedded into daily operations.
  • Develop training and education packages for staff including train the trainer processes to ensure effective rollout.
  • Oversee all RRTW processes including investigation, root cause analysis and corrective action roll out.
  • Lead Incident Investigation processes and prepare reports to present findings to Directors.
  • Develop and maintain emergency preparedness and disaster recovery plans for all depot operations and business risks.

Efficiently:

  • Manage continuous Improvement programs for all areas of business preparing recommendations for directors.
  • Oversee all aspects of IT management, from onboarding new computers, printers and phone to trouble shooting day to day IT issues for broader team.
  • Analyse business performance in collaboration with broader teams to identify areas for improvement, including training and support of team members during improvement implementation.

The ideal candidate will be a genuine team player ready to play a critical role in helping the organisation operate more effectively and efficiently, ultimately contributing to our long-term success. you will naturally lead by example and not be afraid to have difficult conversations. You must be willing to test and utilise your own policy and processes as a means to effective implementation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Management, or a related field and/or relevant experience equivalent to role.
  • Familiarity with LEAN management principals would be advantageous
  • Strong understanding of business operations and Industrial Relations principles.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and solve problems effectively.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, SharePoint and Online CRM applications.
  • Open Unrestricted driver's license.
