Position Summary:
We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Sales and Business Development Manager with a strong background in the seed industry, rural sales, and agronomy. This senior management role is pivotal in driving Baker Seed Co.’s growth and reputation within the seed and broader agricultural industries.
You will oversee all aspects of the seed value chain, develop new business opportunities, and foster lasting relationships with key stakeholders. Your leadership will contribute to maintaining Baker Seed Co.’s position as an industry leader in production, processing, packaging, and seed treatment.
Key Responsibilities:
Sales & Marketing:
- Develop and execute sales strategies to meet budget and forecasting goals.
- Manage sales inquiries via phone, email, and other channels, providing exceptional customer support.
- Maintain up-to-date pricing and product availability information for customers.
- Represent Baker Seed Co. at field days, industry events, and networking opportunities.
- Drive sales of broadacre and pasture seed products, as well as our processing and agronomy services.
- Provide direction to the sales team.
Procurement:
- Oversee seed production and procurement to align with sales targets.
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships.
Agronomy & Field Support:
- Provide agronomic advice to growers, agronomists, and retail partners.
- Coordinate seed production, crop inspections, and on-farm support.
- Lead agronomy trials, analyze results, and share insights with the team.
Inventory & Dispatch:
- Collaborate with freight companies to optimize distribution efficiency.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Higher education in Agronomy, Agribusiness, or a related field, desirable.
- Proven experience in the seed or agricultural industry, with expertise in sales, agronomy, and business development.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with farmers, agronomists, and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in data analysis, forecasting, and reporting.
- Current driver’s license.
