About the Role
The role of the Finance Officer is to conduct all administrative and operational aspects of the finance function for Swinburne Student Association including development and implementation of robust data collection and storage initiatives, and finance systems and processes, that support the various teams within Swinburne Student Association to deliver quality student experiences at Swinburne. The role will work closely with all areas of Swinburne Student Association to ensure compliance, best practice and integrity of Swinburne Student Association’s financial management and performance.
The incumbent will regularly be required to work at all Melbourne campuses (Hawthorn, Croydon and Wantirna) but will be primarily based at the Hawthorn Campus.
About You
To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
- Proficiency in accounting software (we use Xero) and Microsoft Office software and ability to process accounts payable and accounts receivable accounts in a timely and efficient manner;
- Demonstrated ability to identify and implement initiatives through the analysis of financial and business performance reports with measurable outcomes; and
- Demonstrated ability to manage financial and associated administrative tasks in an organisation with an annual budget of $4-5 million per annum (or greater).
Qualifications
A degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (at least 12 months experience is highly preferred); an associate diploma with at least two years of relevant experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in accounting and finance.
About Swinburne Student Association
Swinburne Student Association (SSA) is a newly formed student association tasked with overseeing the provision of a range of services to students at Swinburne University of Technology. These services include Clubs and Sports, a range of leadership and student wellbeing initiatives, Advocacy and our Events and Experience Program across Swinburne’s campuses.
The SSA is governed by a Board of Directors comprised of three Swinburne appointees and six elected Student Directors, supported by a workforce of 25 staff who are dedicated to delivering a world-class student experience at Swinburne.
