
Position Payroll and Administration Officer

As a Payroll and Administration Officer, you will play a key role in the team by managing the payroll function and supporting the business in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of payroll and administrative operations. You will be responsible for performing payroll duties, ensuring compliance, preparing reports, and supporting finance and management. You will also be responsible for coordinating administrative tasks, maintaining office records, assisting with daily operations, and ensuring compliance with company policies.
Key Responsibilities
Payroll Duties:
- Process and reconcile employee salaries, wages, overtime, and deductions accurately and on time.
- Maintain payroll records, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Ensure compliance with Fair Work Act, PAYG withholding, Superannuation Guarantee (SGC), Payroll Tax, Workcover, and other payroll-related statutory obligations.
- Process new starters and terminations, including onboarding, offboarding, and leave calculations.
- Accurately track and process overtime payments in line with award agreements and company policies.
- Prepare and lodge payroll tax returns, ensuring accurate wage reporting in line with state regulations.
- Ensure correct Workcover wage declarations for premium calculations.
- Generate payroll reports for finance, management, and auditing purposes.
- Manage Single Touch Payroll (STP) reporting and ensure accuracy in submissions to the Australian Taxation Office (ATO).
- Process end-of-year payroll reconciliations, superannuation payments, and annual statements.
Administrative Duties:
- Manage office supplies inventory as necessary.
- Organize and schedule meetings and appointments.
- Produce and distribute correspondence memos, letters, and reports.
- Maintain filing systems and ensure document compliance.
- Provide general administrative support to internal departments.
- Handle reception duties, including answering calls and assisting visitors.
- Perform ad hoc administrative tasks as required.
Candidate eligibility requirements
- Proven experience as a Payroll Officer or in a similar role.
- At least 5 years of experience in payroll processing, reconciliations, and compliance.
- Proficiency in using ADP payroll systems is essential.
- Strong knowledge of payroll processes, tax regulations, superannuation, and employment laws.
- Experience with Workcover claims management and Payroll Tax lodgments.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook), with strong Excel skills.
- Excellent organizational and multitasking abilities.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and ability to meet deadlines.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
