About the Role:

As a Tenant Support Officer, you will play a crucial role in assisting tenants with housing-related challenges, ensuring they receive the support and guidance needed to maintain stable accommodation. You will work closely with tenants, and support services to provide advocacy, education, and practical assistance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander tenants, recognising and respecting cultural needs.
  • Provide advice and support to tenants regarding tenancy rights and responsibilities.
  • Provide direct support to tenants experiencing tenancy challenges, including rent arrears, property upkeep, and neighbourhood relations.
  • Refer tenants to additional services such as financial counselling, legal aid, health, and social support as needed.
  • Maintain positive relationships with external service providers and coordinate tenant access to available resources.
  • Conduct home visits and assessments to ensure tenants’ well-being.
  • Deliver case management support to tenants who require assistance beyond routine tenancy matters.
  • Develop and implement support plans tailored to tenant needs.
  • Maintain accurate records and case notes in line with policies and procedures.
  • Work closely with the Property Manager to address maintenance and property-related issues impacting tenancy stability.
  • Provide administration support to the Property Manager ensuring documentation is accurate and concise.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Qualifications in Social Housing, Community Services, or a related field.
  • Experience in a tenant support, case management, or community services role, especially within housing or social services.
  • Strong understanding of tenancy laws, rental agreements, and tenant rights.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Ability to build rapport with diverse communities, including vulnerable individuals.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.

The successful applicant must hold:

  • a current and satisfactory NSW Working with Children’s Clearance
  • Be willing to obtain a National Police Check
  • Unrestricted Driver’s License.
