
Asset Management Engineer – Water and Wastewater

The position provides specialist engineering expertise to support sustainable service delivery, informed investment decisions, regulatory compliance and long-term asset performance. Through the development of asset management frameworks, condition assessment programs, risk-based planning and capital renewal strategies, the role contributes to the reliable provision of water and wastewater services to the Charters Towers community.
The successful candidate will have:
| Essential Knowledge, skills and abilities |
Experience working across geographically dispersed infrastructure networks and balancing networks and balancing asset investment decisions within constrained funding environments.
Demonstrated experience in engineering, asset management or infrastructure planning within water and wastewater services or comparable utility environments.
Experience developing asset management plans, lifecycle strategies and capital renewal programs.
Experience analysing asset condition and performance risk information to support investment decisions.
Experience using asset management systems, GIS platforms and engineering databases.
Ability to analyse complex technical and asset data and develop practical, evidence-based recommendations.
Strong problem-solving and strategic planning capability.
Knowledge of contemporary asset management principles including ISO 55001 frameworks.
Knowledge of water and wastewater infrastructure systems and asset lifecycle management practices.
Understanding of relevant Queensland legislation and regulatory requirements relating to water and wastewater services.
Understanding of risk management, service level planning and infrastructure sustainability principles.
Ability to communicate technical information clearly to operational staff, Managers, Executive Leaders and external stakeholders.
Ability to build productive working relationships across multidisciplinary teams.
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes within agreed timeframes.
Commitment to continuous improvement and customer-focused service delivery.
| Essential Education/Qualifications |
Bachelor of Engineering in Civil, Mechanical, Water and Wastewater or relevant field.
Eligibility for registration as a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ) or ability to obtain within twelve (12) months into the role.
| Essential Licences |
Possession and maintenance of a Queensland ‘C’ Class Driver Licence.
